Have you received clearance from a doctor to be involved in an exercise program?
Yes from pelvic physio
Have you ever been diagnosed by a doctor or experienced any of the following?
Bone, muscle or joint problems that you have been advised may be made worse with exercise
If you answered yes to any of the above, please provide detail
I have had some SI joint inflammation on and off for approximately the last 6 months, I also had some nerve pain down my left arm and left leg. I'm aware that exercise can both help and hinder these :) I also have osteopaenia.
Are you working with any health practitioners? If yes, what is their name and do you give permission for me to contact them?
Yes - Graeme Jones at kingborough medical centre (GP), Heather at Antill St physio. Yes to permission.
Do you menstruate on a regular basis (outside of pregnancy) and how long is a typical cycle? Any concerns around your menstrual cycle? Do you track your cycle?
I haven't yet got my cycle back postpartum (I am still breastfeeding on demand). I would like to do what I can to support getting my cycle back to aid my bone density and an looking into practitioners to support me with that.
How many children/pregnancies have you had? List DOB and type of birth (vaginal, planned c-section, unplanned c-section, D&C)
1 child and one pregnancy (although I had three other embryo transfers that didn't take). DOB 14/10/2024, vaginal birth
For your most recent birth, please provide any relevant information (length of labour, pushing phase, tears/episiotomy, assisted delivery, stitches, scar pain/sensation, etc.)
14 hour labour, 1.75 hours pushing, minor 3rd degree tear which was stitched under a spinal block after delivery. I haven't had any problems from the tear and both the public and private pelvic physios I saw advised it has healed well.
For any previous births, please share any details you believe relevant
N/a
Are you currently breastfeeding?
Yes
Has your menstrual cycle returned?
No
Have you had your 6 week check and received clearance for exercise?
Yes
What is your exercise history? What were you doing previously and what have you done in the last 6 months?
Prior to birth I had a daily home yoga practice (not super strong but with plenty of standing strength poses), and attended 2-3 gym classes a week with gym and tonic. I also did approximately 5-10 mins of strength/cardiovascular every morning at home and swing dancing. I maintained that through pregnancy with appropriate modifications. Since giving birth I returned slowly to exercise but recommenced gym at approximately 6 months post partum and modified to protect my pelvic floor u tol about 12 months. For the past 6 months I have been going to 2 gym classes a week and trying to do 5-10 mons of strength stuff at home and/or core but find in g it challenging with toddler solo parenting.
What are your goals / focus returning to exercise?
From this program specifically I'd like support to reconnect with my pelvic floor and deep core to ensure they are supporting me in daily life, as well as more generally stabilising the pelvic/lower back area and also foot and ankle strength (I've had issues with peroneal muscle pain/cranps)
Do you have any concerns about exercising / anything important for me to know? (e.g. previous injuries, pain, fatigue)
I'm hypermobile which is contributing to the SI joint issues. I didn't have issue in pregnancy but have been flaring now with even small back bends etc.
Have you seen, or do you see, a Women's Health Physio? If yes, what did you go for and what was the result?
I saw a pelvic physio for birth preparation and recovery. I also previously saw a pelvic physio for pelvic floor tightness, which was picked up in working on a hamstring tendon tear.
If you are currently seeing a Women's Health Physio, what is their name and do you consent to me making contact with them?
Not currently seeing
Do any of the following apply?
I feel pain during sex or upon insertion
Have you ever experienced back or pelvic pain?
Not until the last 6 months but now SI joint pain
Have you been assessed for Diastasis Recti (abdominal separation)? If so, when and what was the result?
Yes, and determined I didn't have it
How did you hear about us?
Word of mouth
Do you agree for photographs to be taken during sessions and used on social media for future promotional literature and/or course content?
